Catholic Dad SG is a growing collection of articles exploring the Catholic faith through Scripture, Church history, Catholic teaching, and personal reflection.
Many of the articles begin with a question.
Sometimes the question comes from a Protestant friend. Sometimes it comes from a retreat, a homily, a podcast, a conversation with my children, or simply something I became curious about and wanted to understand more deeply.
As the library grows, several themes will appear regularly.
The Eucharist
The Eucharist is the centre of Catholic worship and the source and summit of the Christian life.
Much of my recent faith journey has been shaped by discovering how deeply the Eucharist is rooted in Sacred Scripture, the Passover, the Temple, and the traditions of ancient Israel.
Many of the earliest articles on this website will explore these foundations and help explain why Catholics believe that the Eucharist is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Catholics often refer to Mary by titles such as Mother of God, Ark of the New Covenant, Queen of Heaven, and many others.
These titles are sometimes misunderstood, yet they are deeply connected to Scripture and the history of salvation.
By understanding Mary's role more clearly, we can better appreciate the beauty of God's plan and the unique vocation entrusted to her.
The Mass
The Mass is far more than a weekly obligation.
Its structure reflects both ancient Jewish worship and the life of the early Church. Understanding the meaning behind the prayers, readings, gestures, and rituals of the Mass helps us participate more consciously, more actively, and more fruitfully.
Scripture, Church History, and Catholic Life
From time to time, I will also write about topics that emerge from my own learning journey.
These may include Sacred Scripture, Church history, apologetics, Catholic spirituality, retreat reflections, questions from readers, conversations with friends, and lessons I am learning as a Catholic husband and father.
In many ways, this website is simply a record of a lifelong journey of learning the faith.
For now, however, we will begin where the Church herself places the centre of Christian life:
the Eucharist.
