Who This Website Is For

Catholic Dad SG is written primarily for Catholics.

Over the years, I have realised that many Catholics love the Church but were never fully taught the depth and beauty of her teachings. As a result, when questions arise — whether from friends, family members, colleagues, or other Christians — they sometimes feel unsure about how to respond.

I know that feeling well.

Many of the questions explored on this website are the same questions I have wrestled with myself throughout my own faith journey.

If that sounds familiar, you are not alone.

When I started Catholic Dad SG, I had several groups of people in mind.

1. Catholics who want to understand their faith more deeply

Many of us grew up attending Mass, receiving the sacraments, and identifying as Catholic. Yet few of us were ever taught why the Church believes and practises what she does.

This website aims to explore those teachings in a clear, structured, and accessible way, so that our faith can become more than a collection of habits and instead become a living relationship with Christ and His Church.

2. Catholics who have been asked difficult questions about the Church

Perhaps a Protestant friend has asked why Catholics believe in the Eucharist, honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, pray to the saints, or follow certain traditions.

These questions can sometimes feel uncomfortable when we do not know how to answer them.

My goal is not to teach Catholics how to win arguments, but to help Catholics understand the biblical, historical, and theological foundations of what the Church teaches, so that they can respond with greater confidence, clarity, and charity.

3. Catholic parents who want to teach their children

This group is especially close to my heart.

As a father myself, I have come to realise that passing on the faith requires more than simply bringing our children to Mass. We must also understand the faith well enough to explain it, live it, and answer the questions that naturally arise as our children grow.

In many ways, Catholic Dad SG began as a project for my own children, Nathanael and Nathalia. My hope is that what I am learning today will one day continue helping them long after they have left my dining table.

Perhaps it may help your family as well.

4. Catholics returning to the faith

Some readers may have spent years away from the Church and are now finding their way back.

You may remember the prayers, the Mass, and the traditions, but perhaps you are only now beginning to ask why the Church teaches what she does.

If that is where you are, welcome home.

I hope these articles help you rediscover the richness, beauty, and coherence of the Catholic faith.

5. Curious Christians and seekers

Although Catholic Dad SG is written mainly for Catholics, anyone who wishes to understand the Catholic faith is welcome to read along.

My intention is not to debate, attack, or criticise other Christians. Rather, I simply wish to explain how Catholics understand the teachings of the Church and why we believe what we believe.

If you are exploring these topics with an open mind and a sincere desire to seek truth, you are most welcome here.

“My hope is that by understanding our faith more deeply,
we may love Christ more fully in the Eucharist.”
